Where Learning Becomes Doing
Entrepreneurship At SLPS prepares students to turn ideas into action through authentic, hands-on learning experiences.
Students don’t just learn about marketing, entrepreneurship, and business, they put those skills to work. From developing brands and creating products to managing inventory, serving customers, analyzing sales, and making real business decisions, students experience what it takes to build, operate, and grow a business.
Through classroom instruction, DECA, work-based learning, dual-credit opportunities, industry certifications, and The Swag Shop, students connect what they learn in the classroom to experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and entrepreneurship.
LEARN. CREATE. LEAD. LAUNCH.

YOUR PATH STARTS HERE
The Entrepreneurship Pathway
The Entrepreneurship Pathway is a multi-year experience that takes students from exploring business and marketing at their neighborhood school to college-level coursework, leadership, competition, and paid work-based learning.
Students begin with Introduction to Business or Introduction to Marketing at their neighborhood school. Beginning in October of each year, sophomores are invited to apply for the pathway that best matches their interests and future goals.
Thinking about Entrepreneurship? Attend your school’s assigned Entrepreneurship Discovery Day to experience the program firsthand and see where the pathway can take you.

START AT YOUR SCHOOL

Explore Your Future
The Entrepreneurship Pathway begins at your neighborhood school.
Students start by taking Introduction to Business or Introduction to Marketing, where they explore the foundations of business, marketing, entrepreneurship, and career opportunities while developing skills they will use throughout the pathway.
As students begin thinking about which pathway is right for them, they don’t have to make that decision without seeing the program first.
COME SEE ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN ACTION
Students interested in the Entrepreneurship Pathway are encouraged to attend their school’s assigned Entrepreneurship Discovery Day.
Discovery Day gives students the opportunity to visit the program, meet students and instructors, explore the learning environment, and experience firsthand how Entrepreneurship At SLPS turns classroom learning into real-world experiences.
See it. Experience it. Decide if Entrepreneurship is your next step.

Ready to Choose Your Path?
Beginning in October, students are invited to apply for the Career & Technical Education pathway that best matches their interests and future goals.
Students who are ready to continue their journey in Entrepreneurship can select the Entrepreneurship Pathway through SchooLinks. After the application and selection process, accepted students begin the pathway during their junior year.
JUNIOR YEAR
Build Your Foundation
Once accepted into the Entrepreneurship Pathway, students begin Entrepreneurship 1–2 during their junior year.
Students move beyond introductory business and marketing concepts and begin applying what they’ve learned through hands-on projects and authentic business experiences. Students develop skills in entrepreneurship, marketing, branding, product development, customer experience, financial decision-making, and business operations.
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to take what they learn in the classroom and put it into practice through projects, DECA, and the program’s student-run business experiences.

LEAD THE WORK

Advanced Entrepreneurship
After completing Entrepreneurship 1–2, students continue into Advanced Entrepreneurship during their senior year.
At the advanced level, students take on greater responsibility for business operations, leadership, marketing, financial decision-making, production, customer experience, and project management.
Seniors move beyond learning how businesses operate and begin leading the work themselves, managing projects, making decisions, mentoring other students, and applying their skills through authentic business experiences.
Learn and Earn
Senior internship
During the second semester of senior year, Entrepreneurship Pathway students put their skills to work through the Learn & Earn Internship Program.
Students complete assigned work experiences through The Swag Shop or an approved off-site internship location, gaining professional experience while earning money for their work.
Students may work up to 20 hours per week on designated A-schedule days, allowing them to build their résumé, strengthen professional skills, and gain meaningful workplace experience before graduation.

Entrepreneurship Pathway students are also members of the district’s award-winning DECA program, connecting classroom learning with leadership development, career preparation, networking, and competitive events.
Throughout the year, students prepare to compete against other emerging business leaders, with opportunities to advance through competition and earn the chance to represent SLPS at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in the spring.
YOUR FUTURE DOESN’T START AFTER GRADUATION.
